Mark Cooke

Mark Cooke is currently an Executive Team member and Regional General Manager with Rural Ambulance Victoria, Australia.
Prior to this role, Mark was the National Clinical Effectiveness Manager for the Ambulance Service Association (ASA), which represents the NHS Ambulance Services of England, Wales, Northern Ireland, Gibraltar and the Channel Islands.
A paramedic by background, Mark has had a successful 22-year career within the health services, having undertaken a bachelor's degree in paramedical studies at the University of Sheffield, followed by a masters degree in Health Service Research. Before joining the ASA, he was Operations Manager for an NHS Ambulance Service.
Having published papers and presented internationally, Mark is also on the international editorial board of the e-Journal of Emergency and Primary Health Care (Australia). He is a steering group member of the recently formed Cochrane Collaboration Prehospital and Emergency Health Field and a founder member of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh Faculty of Prehospital Care.
Working at a strategic level across all sectors of care, Mark has worked with the Department of Health on Coronary Heart Disease and Stroke. Other partnership working includes that with the Joint Royal Colleges Ambulance Liaison Committee (JRCALC), the Healthcare Commission and the Myocardial Infarction National Audit Project (MINAP). He also provides consultancy on service redesign, modernisation and performance management.
Mark's key focus is upon development of world class operations management, improving clinical care provision, linked to clinical performance indicators and the clinical outcomes of patients.
